Pittwater and Sydney Harbour

THE SETTING

Pittwater

Pittwater is a large and picturesque inlet in the New South Wales coastline, separated from the Pacific Ocean by the Palm Beach Peninsula. To the west lies the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, a forested reserve that features hidden creeks, aboriginal rock carvings and plentiful wildlife. To the east is Newport, Avalon, and Palm Beach, the peninsula extending by a narrow sand spit to Barrenjoey Head.

Sydney Harbour

Sydney Harbour is world-famous for its bridge and opera house, but the physical geography is also spectacular. Large parts of the shoreline are still lined with indigenous vegetation, and the numerous bays and coves give the harbour a wonderfully wild character.
